shorts & sweets

Saturday Oct. 30th
1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Clover Farm Market
West Groton Square

Join the Halloween Fun in the back room theater of Clover Farm Market for a day of old time Movie Shorts and Vintage Cartoons from the 40's & 50's. This is fun for kids of all ages. The rare clips, compiled by filmmaker David Melpignano and edited to breathtaking music, are a throw-back to the days of the depression and after. It's "You Tube, Back Then" and it will have you gasping, laughing and wondering who the heck are these people, and why are they doing these things.

Jedermann Bakery's Home Made Seasonal Pies and yummy Pecan Squares, Clover Farm's famous Espresso German Chocolate Brownies, Carrot Cake Muffins, Hot Fresh Roasted Organic Coffee and, of course, Squanna Cookies.

Come for lunch, bring the family (Grandma & Grandpa too) and you won't want to miss this afternoon of movie nostalgia and sweet desserts.

tarbell days

West Groton Celebrates Tarbell Days
Mon. April 26th to Sat. May 1st, 2010
Clover Farm Market & West Groton Square

See the Tarbell Days Photography Contest Winning Entries Here

Did you know that the brick building in the center of West Groton Square is the birthplace of one of America's top ten impressionist artists, Edmund C. Tarbell? Tarbell was born on April 26, 1862 in West Groton. To celebrate Tarbell and the many talented artist in this area, the village of West Groton has put together an exciting weeklong event beginning on Tarbell's birthday April 26 and ending on May 1st.

So break out your parasol and cape and come on down to West Groton and check out Tarbell Days. This family event keeps growing and now has an impressive line -up of art displays, a photo contest with some great prizes, childrens' workshops, paddle carving demonstration, scavenger hunt and live music at the Clover Farm Market, Nashoba Paddler and the Groton Nursery. The live music will begin at 9 am on May 1st at the market and end at 5. But that's not all, Arte Kenyon will be playing at 7:30 at the Clover Market where there will be a wine tasting and the community photo contest winners will be announced! Great Prizes, too, donated by the Paddler, the Nursery, the Clover Farm and Patty Axford Photography!

So leave the modern world of worry behind and step into the beautiful days of art, music and song! There will be puppet making workshops, origami and more. The photo contest is open to all. The Nashoba Paddler and the Groton Nursery will also have demonstrations and live music all afternoon on Sat May 1st.

There will be an outdoor community paint set up along the rivers and canoeing! The kindergarten class at Country Kids will be painting their impressions of Tarbell's work and these young masterpieces will be on display at the Clover. Jan Hurst is working with the Museum of Fine Art in Boston, where Tarbell taught for many years, to have a display of copies of Tarbell's work!

Anyone interested in participating in the outdoor community paint, showing your art at the Clover Farm Gallery or entering the photo contest can get more info by logging on to www.thecloverfarmmarket.com or call the market at 978 448 0010.
